Carnival 2008

Why did I bother? The day was going well up until it came time to go home and the Po-po decided they were gonna barricade us in and treat us like criminals. People were throwing bottles so the Police decided they were going to cordone off the road and not let anyone go anywhere. Because surely this would calm them down right? Not at all. People got even more frustrated and began throwing even more bottles. People were sticking to the pavement and trying to get out of the way and not get hit by bottles. I kindly *in my nicest voice ever* asked an officer if we could just get through to a slip road and hide there because we didn’t want to get hit. His response? No. if he lets a few of us in everyone will want to go to the side road. Isn’t this a better option? Gradually let people go into the side road to avoid getting bottled. I made it obvious I would be claiming compensation if a bottle touched me. The crowd were trying to get through and out of harms way but the Police pushed everyone in the direction of the bottles. It was horrible. People screaming and clinging on to each other. Myself and my friend somehow managed to squeeze though and only made it to another row of Police officers, at this point we had to young girls tagging along with us. Poor things probably their first trip out alone and to be experiencing something that I myself- in my twenties- had never experienced. One of the girls rang her mum to let her know she was okay. Which I thought was sweet, you know how mothers worry.

In the middle of the roads there were still floats and buses. I asked one of the buses if they would let us on. No chivalry is obviously dead because they refused to let us on. Don’t worry about us, we’ll just get hit in the face with a bottle.

In the link below at the beginning there is one boy throwing the majority of the bottles- did he really think he was going to get away with it? The Police- who I thought would have just ran up to him and beat him- decided to use one of the floats as a decoy, they asked it to drive under the bridge in Grove and hid behind it and ran out on the boy. You know he got it at the station, cos the way they carried him off (all 15 of them) he was all crumpled up. We eventually got on to a side road and went the long way round and managed to get back on to the road we were on- this took forever and a day I thought we had walked to the other side of London at this point.

Yet again the Police trying to enforce their authority. Apparently they were picking on people and arrested them for no reason. I don’t mid stop and search- by al means do it especially in a vicinity where I know I am going but there is such thing as harassment. I read in one of those free papers that they were making racist comments too. Hmmmm. The officers were northerners and didn’t really know how to talk to Londoners, rather than show compassion to the ones that weren’t doing anything wrong- such as myself- they were rude, aggressive and hostile. The Police have gone down even further in my book.

David Cameron's bike stolen..

Why you need bike insurance!
OMG, have just read this story about David Cameron's bike being stolen (BBC London) from Portobello Road so not far from me, yikes!
Conservative leader David Cameron says his bicycle was stolen after he left it locked outside a supermarket while he shopped near his home in west London. He was at a Tesco branch on Portobello Road when the bike - which he joked was "an old friend" - disappeared.
"Someone must have picked it up and walked off with it", he said.
"If anyone has seen this bicycle, I would like it back," he added. "I've eeported it online... but I'm not holding my breath."
Mr Cameron said he had been "picking up a few bits of salad" when the theft occurred at about 1800 BST on Wednesday.
His spokeswoman added the Tory leader was "annoyed" and "pretty hacked off" at what had happened.
A spokesman for Tesco would not go into details about the theft.
"Although we are very sorry to hear about David Cameron's misfortune, we cannot comment on incidents which happen outside our stores," he said.
Tom Bogdanovich of the London Cycling Campaign said he hoped the theft would not discourage Mr Cameron from using his bike.
The case highlighted the need for a greater number of secure cycle stands in London, he added.
Mr Cameron and his bike have had a high profile since he became Conservative leader three years ago.
His entire journey by bike to the House of Commons after becoming leader was broadcast live, filmed from above by news helicopters.
His bicycle was back in the news the next year as he faced Labour attacks on his green credentials after it was revealed that an official car followed him carrying his briefcase.
And in March Mr Cameron apologised after the Daily Mirror photographed him on his bike ignoring red lights and cycling the wrong way up a one-way street.

Anne Darwin sentenced

Has anyone read the story about the canoeist and his wife? Just read on BBC London that they've been sentenced to 6 years and 3 months and 6 years and 6 months.

Now not that they killed anyone but I thought that they would have been sentenced to longer, that was a large scale deception!

So on that note....Anyone looking for life insurance?

Life

As you may have seen from my previous post blog readers, I am on a conscious eating tip right now. So to add to my conscious eating I am contemplating health and life insurance…you know plan for the future and all that jazz!
Upon my quest to achieve my goals for the week I found a few sites that do really good deals on insurances, particularly the ones I am after.

So check these links out, if you’re on the planning for the future tip that I am currently on.

It’s like I am *shock horror* maturing lol!

Healthy eating

On Monday I made a conscious decision and actually decided I was going to go through with my d**t. I’ve cut out junk, and have been jogging twice this week (this is good for me- I don’t run…EVER), did some yoga last night and I am drinking only water.
I am not calling it a diet, which is why I starred out the word the first time. Diet just spells disaster. It is closely followed by failure, cravings and the eventual thought of ‘why did I bother?’
I think this is why I have made it to day 5 and actually lost my appetite for junk in the process and I think my stomach has shrunk- long gone are the large portions and chocolate treats. It is only day 5 and I don’t want to get too ahead of myself but like an addict I need to take it one day at a time. I do actually feel better, less sluggish and looking to the future of a redused waistline- upper body only needs to be shifted.

But day 5 is progress and I am considering treating myself it was going to be a strawberry smoothie solero with only 90 calories, but now it’s a dress!

Hi

Hi fellow bloggers, reader and anons!

Its been while but I've decided to step back in to the blogging arena. I am a happy go lucky and sometimes a bit too real Londoner with a lot to say.

It has been a while since I last wrote a blog....due to unforeseen circumstances ermm cough *lazyness* cough I left it for a while. But I now have come to the conclusion that I need to write blogs, they provide me with a release and allow me to explore my inner jounro a bit further.

This will be a short but sweet blog, and hopefully the future's bright and I'll keep it up.

Cosmo chick over and out
